Let’s be completely honest here, some of us women have been doing this from the beginning of time. There have been books like “Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret” that celebrate it as us transitioning from girl to woman, and for some of us, when boys started to be more attractive and SOO “off-limits”. It was seen as this big beautiful thing that was a sign of a women’s fertility, and well “Womanhood” which in some cases yes! that is true.

But what about the woman that can’t and don’t menstruate? What about the ones like me that have physical/invisible illnesses that are escalated around this time?

Today, I’m opening up about a struggle I’ve faced since I was 19–20 years of age. Today, I want to bring AWARENESS to the truth of what many women go through during menses.

My experience

My period was normal until I reached the age of 19. The Dysmenorrhea (cramps) went from irritating to downright unbearable. Both my hips and lower spine make it difficult for me to be completely mobile, My gums become more tender, and I get the worst migraines ever to the point where I couldn’t do anything.
